Mini Implants - Patient Services

Muskegon Dentist Mini Implants

When it comes to replacing one or more teeth in your mouth, a dental implant is often the treatment of choice and is also one of the most conservative treatments for tooth replacement. Implants are biocompatible posts that replace the roots of your missing teeth. They are physically and biologically designed to attach to your jaw bone and become the foundation for a natural looking restoration.

Your new tooth or teeth will have excellent stability and strength, and will look and feel like your natural teeth.

  • Dental implant replacing the root of a missing tooth
  • Implants are prescribed to replace a missing tooth or teeth.
  • Implant post placed in the jaw where a tooth is missing
  • An implant post is surgically placed into the area where the tooth is missing. In a few months bone will fuse to the implant.
  • Custom crown attached to a dental implant
  • A customized crown or bridge is permanently cemented to the implant.
  • Completed dental implant restoration
  • Implants restore the natural beauty, function, and health of teeth.

Mini Dental Implants for Denture Stabilization

If your denture slips or feels uncomfortable, mini dental implants may help hold it more securely. Dr. William R. Gaston offers options for stabilizing an existing denture or fitting a new one.

Small titanium posts in the jaw connect to housings inside your denture. O-ring attachments work much like snaps, helping secure the denture while allowing you to remove it for daily cleaning.

Options for your denture

Your options depend on the condition of your denture, the available bone, and your oral health.

Stabilize an existing lower denture

In suitable cases, an existing lower denture can be retrofitted with attachments that connect to mini implants.

Fit a new lower denture

A new lower denture may be made to connect to four mini implants, with placement planned for your needs.

Discuss an upper denture

Some upper dentures can also be adapted for implant stabilization, depending on the available bone and denture design.

Why consider mini implants?

Their smaller size can allow a less invasive placement procedure and may be an option when there is limited bone. Mini implants may also cost less than conventional implants.

What happens during treatment?

Dr. Gaston examines your mouth and reviews your health history before planning treatment. Mini implants are placed using local anesthetic, and the denture is fitted or adapted to connect to them. The timing of attachment and use depends on the stability of the implants and your individual treatment plan.
